Elektron Solar is complete and ready to power next ski season for Vail Resorts at Park City Mountain and Deer Valley Resort 🎿 ☀ The 80 MWac facility will also serve Salt Lake City, Park City, Summit County and Utah Valley University through PPAs with Rocky Mountain Power. SOLV Energy will continue to provide O&M services on the project. Congratulations to DESRI on the success of Elektron! We are grateful for your ongoing partnership.
Have you heard the news? America now has hashtag 5 Million Solar installations — and we’re not slowing down! It took the U.S. 50 years to reach 5 million solar installations, it will only take us 6 years to reach 10 million. Solar is providing communities with jobs, cost-savings, and resilient grids. SOLV Energy is observing Construction Safety Week. A strong safety culture recognizes the role and responsibility of every individual to own their environment and safety, and the importance of building confidence in every team member. Together with 184+ partners, we're working to build an industry that values every voice.
SOLV Energy invests in initiatives that improve access to both clean energy and educational resources for students and their families. For Navajo children living without access to reliable electricity in their homes, learning often stops when the sun goes down. The Skip the Grid project focuses on both energy and education equity. In addition to installing solar powered systems in homes, we provide students with backpacks filled with school supplies, books, and games. This year, we partnered with Cal Poly University students to host a Solar 101 lesson at the Kirtland Youth Association. K-8 students learned about utility-scale solar projects, like the San Juan Solar project in Kirtland, and saw how solar energy works by completing our hands-on solar PV car activity. Through this experience, our goal is to inspire students in the Navajo Nation to not only understand what’s being built in their back yard, but also inspire them to consider the wide range of career opportunities available in clean energy and the impacts solar power can have in their communities.
SOLV Energy has helped power over 125 homes with limited access to electricity in the Navajo Nation. We couldn't have done it without the passion and support of our non-profit and industry partners. The 2024 Skip the Grid trip included Nextracker Inc., an exciting new co-lead sponsor of our collaborative project. As fellow industry leaders, Nextracker and SOLV Energy recognize that we have the responsibility to use our expertise and resources to support the communities we work in, with Navajo Nation being a primary focus for us. "This project is about listening to the community and then being able to provide clean, renewable, free energy to those who need it. Skip the Grid goes hand-in-hand with Nextracker’s goals.” -Rachel Chandler, EIT, Structural Engineer at Nextracker.
This Earth Day, delivering clean, carbon-free power is more important than ever. Solar and storage are driving us towards a brighter, more sustainable energy future ☀
SOLV Energy is a proud partner on the Arica and Victory Pass Solar + Storage Complex providing EPC services for PV and BESS. This 463MW solar/186MW storage facility is a huge investment in Riverside County, creating 1,000 union jobs during construction and contributing $25.8 million in taxes that support local schools and public services over the project's lifetime. Congratulations to Clearway Energy Group and all project partners!
We believe that clean, renewable energy should be accessible to all. Since 2019, SOLV Energy has been bringing sustainable power to the Navajo Nation, where 15,000 residents live with limited access to stable electricity. In March, members of our SOLV Energy team met partners Nextracker Inc., Heart of America, and California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo in Shiprock, NM for our annual Skip the Grid project. Skip the Grid works to combat against the environmental injustice many residents in the Navajo Nation face by installing off-grid Goal Zero solar systems onto homes that generate enough electricity to power lights, devices, and refrigeration. This year we powered 26 homes. The solar industry and the companies that power it are uniquely positioned to provide better energy for a brighter future. Are you interested in increasing your impact? SOLV Energy will continue to advocate for the greater representation of Native communities at this year’s RE+. Join us in Anaheim this September to learn how you can also be part of this movement.
We're accepting applications for the Power Up Renewable Energy scholarship through May 6th. Share this opportunity with your network this Earth Month! The Power Up Scholarship will award $1,500 to up to 6 high school seniors with a passion for clean energy and sustainability.
