Very agile – Teams work in an agile environment. Great team culture – Always communicative, very agile, multicultural, and friendly. Oracle is a self-service company – If you don’t actively engage and push yourself to get more involved, others will take those opportunities instead. Information sharing is limited – Information is only shared when it becomes effective or immediately relevant, not proactively. Very process-oriented and manager-led – Although teams are agile, each team has a Software Development Manager who drives decisions, enforces coding rules, standards, and provides direction. This can limit team autonomy. Limited career progression – There are contingents (quotas) for how many Principal Software Engineers may coexist among all Software Engineers in a team. Therefore, it doesn’t matter if you qualify for a promotion – it only matters whether there is a spot available. Work-life balance is average – Nothing outstanding, but acceptable.
