Pros

There are nice people who genuinely care about each other, or at least those within their inner social circle. Very international demographic, though don't let that fool you into thinking the projects are also international-friendly. Flexible WFH arrangements (mainly depending on your project). Many annual leave days (20+) compared to average companies. Salary jump from entry level associate to consultant level is surprisingly big, in the 0.001% chance you are able to get promoted.

Kontras

Since the first "interview" call I received from HR, I was assured great things were coming with the new changes in management, and was told to disregard controversial rumors about the company which were primarily due to the old management team. I was not even aware of such rumors as I had never heard of Capco prior to submitting my job application. I say quote-on-quote "interview" as it was really more like he was hard selling the company to me, as well as the ATP program. Perhaps that was the first red flag I missed. Can't imagine how bad it was before if what we have now is the "better" version. 1. Many empty promises made on the plans Capco had in store for associates. Promised a sizeable salary increase was coming, to take effect 2 months after my proposed start date (even apparently approved by Capco UK) -- part of the reason I accepted Capco's job offer in the first place. Never was it mentioned again after I joined. What used to be their selling point is no longer valid, since associate salary is now lower than that of entry level consultants at big 4. Guess that's my fault for getting scammed. 2. Highly questionable quality in hiring criteria, which I noticed even since I first joined seeing some of the associates in our batch. Turns out the older resources aren't much better, with many people not qualified to call themselves a consultant -- seems common sense and critical thinking skills are rare these days, and there is no commitment to project delivery. I see many senior consultants delivering associate level work, honestly maybe high school students can even do better. As a result, it puts strain on projects to deliver properly. 3. There's also too much emphasis on "community work", which is simply a politics game. You can be assigned to a difficult project with no time for anything else but get the same or less recognition as someone on an easy project. 4. You would think that after laying off so many employees, Capco would try harder to take care of their remaining resources, but it seems like they're relying on the assumption that there's nowhere else for us to go. They say these struggles are also impacting all other corporates in HK, when in reality it's not, or at least not to the same extent. The high turnover in the last few months is proof. 5. Very few meaningful projects are available, if there are even any at all. Since Capco can't even manage their resources properly, how much better do you think the reputation is on client side? You can say that there are limited project opportunities due to external circumstances, but it doesn't help that nobody knows who Capco is, or if they do it's not in great light. Many have also left the company in bad taste, and word gets around fast in the industry. Simple math can tell you: Low % chance of winning projects x Low # of projects available to bid = No sales = No point in joining this sinking ship. If Capco was a listed company, it would be a phenomenal time to buy some put options.

Pros

Varied client work — Different clients and project types, which keeps things interesting. Real project mobility — You can move between projects when you advocate for yourself (within reason). Approachable leadership — Senior leaders are open to conversations if you reach out. Good development resources — Plenty of training and growth opportunities if you take advantage of them. Strong teams — Colleagues are smart, capable, and great to work with. Entrepreneurial environment — New ideas are encouraged, and there’s room to take initiative.

Kontras

Long hours vary by project — Like most any professional job, some engagements require extended hours for prolonged periods, but work–life balance really depends on the client and team. Additional internal responsibilities — Depending on level, there can be a significant amount of firm‑support work outside of client delivery. Domain alignment not guaranteed — You may not always be staffed on projects that match your domain expertise. Coaching alignment constraints — Coaching relationships are tied to domain, which limits flexibility in choosing formal mentors. Long engagements (sometimes) — Some projects run for long durations or through multiple extensions. It can provides stability but may reduce variety in client and project experience depending on what you’re looking for.
