Pros

Kontras
The Chemical industry tends to favor men who are compulsive, smoke, and sleep 4 hours a day, but they have to hire women who sleep eight hours a day. Overall, it is a chill place to work; BASF encourages friendly and responsive employees. The compulsive employees stick out like sore thumbs. The Solo guys occasionally slip through (PhDs who have no experience working in a lab with undergrads). They are supposed to learn Process chemistry, but they will slowly drive the Chemical Engineers nuts with their compulsiveness and stodginess so they end up as solo guys. Avoid them at all costs. If you are a minority female, lodge a complaint, because these solo guys often come from the old country (NOT Germany- the Germans make great colleagues). The solo guy does not help with innovative ways to improve production. Chemical Industry is cyclical. Save your money and qualify for unemployment.
