Pros

Compensation is above average, Bonus is based on national average not on goal attainment so there is the potential for earning big bonuses during a down year. The company has some potential block busters in their pipeline. Career Ladder II and III promotions are fairly plentiful. The company offers stock options to the top 10% of the sales force.

Kontras

Nexium is about to go generic and there is another large layoff looming on the horizon. The sales force is populated with disgruntled tenured reps who remember when budgets were unlimited and new reps eager to work for big pharma. Certain areas of the country have poor work environments while others are supportive. There is a lot of pressure to perform but little guidance on how to achieve that goal since leadership is out of touch with the field. Leadership understand the problems but there is no consensus on a solution. There are many different things being tried but it can appear to be very unorganized.

I imagine this is very dependent on line management but I find my team and supervisors to be true champions of a high performing and highly compassionate work culture. I find my work challenging and rewarding, and have had opportunities to learn and grow and be rewarded and recognized for my output. No job is perfect but I’m truly happy to work here and at a time when AZ is truly rising like a rocket.

Like any massive global corporate entity, things can sometimes move slowly and it can be challenging to navigate a high number of constantly evolving priorities and initiatives. That being said, AZ is very clear about its north stars and values which makes it possible to prioritize work that has the most impact and alignment with the company’s ambition and business prerogatives. 60% office attendance policy is also a bit funny when oftentimes I am on Teams calls with colleagues sitting in other areas of the world.
