I interviewed for a Pricing Analyst position at Builders FirstSource and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience with the hiring process. Over the course of nearly three months, I went through multiple rounds of interviews—speaking with the recruiter, the hiring manager, a peer, a senior manager, and even the VP.
Despite investing a lot of time and energy into this opportunity, communication was often delayed or unclear. After my final interview, I waited almost two weeks with no update, only to receive a vague message that they were still “working through the process.” I followed up again after being told I’d have an answer by Friday—Friday came and went without a word. Eventually, I was informed that I didn’t get the role.
While I understand not every candidate can be selected, I expected a more transparent and respectful process—especially for a position that required so many stages. I hope the company takes steps to improve their hiring communication and timeline expectations in the future.
