Last week, our GMR family had the privilege of honoring 37 fallen EMS heroes during the National EMS Memorial Service Moving Honors procession event at our headquarters in Lewisville, TX.
We are proud to announce a new partnership with Avel eCare to launch 911 REACT (Rural Emergency Access, Care & Telehealth), designed to improve access to care in rural America. Together, we are reimagining 911 as a coordinated entry point to clinical guidance and virtual care, helping connect patients to the right level of care earlier. By combining GMR's 911 Nurse Navigation with Avel eCare's virtual care expertise, we are strengthening clinical decision-making at the first point of contact. This partnership reflects our commitment to improving outcomes and expanding access to appropriate care across rural communities. “For too long, the default has been an ambulance and the emergency department,” said GMR Chief Operating Officer and President Ted Van Horne. "This program offers another option—helping rural residents get answers, manage symptoms around the clock and access care at home, easing pressure on overburdened systems and supporting better long-term outcomes.”
The National EMS Memorial Service’s annual Moving Honors procession began yesterday at the SHIELD Training Center in Redding, CA, embarking on its 9,000-mile journey and paying homage to 37 EMS heroes who lost their lives while serving others. The journey will culminate in Arlington, VA with the National EMS Memorial Service and Weekend of Honor, where the fallen will be solemnly remembered. The GMR family is proud to honor the fallen through this year’s Moving Honors procession. The REACH Air Medical Services team members hosted the kick-off procession event this morning. Safe travels to the Moving Honors team as they begin their journey, spanning 32 stops in 24 states. “It is an honor for REACH to host the kickoff of the Moving Honors procession, a powerful tribute to EMS professionals whose service and sacrifice will never be forgotten,” said Sean Russell, Pacific Region president for Global Medical Response (GMR), REACH’s parent company.
Nearly 30 years ago, Thomas Anderson began his journey surrounded by the best leaders who encouraged him to continue his EMS education. With the company’s support helping fund his training, he became one of the very first graduates of American Medical Response (AMR)’s Earn While You Learn (EWYL) program. Now, he’s giving back to the next generation as a field training officer and long-time paramedic for AMR Waterbury. We are incredibly grateful for his service. This EMS Week we celebrate paramedics like Thomas who pursue EMS education and advocate for patient health and safety.
