Our Leach to the Last Drop initiative is enhancing copper recovery with advanced, low-carbon techniques. We achieved our initial targeted run rate of 200 million pounds of copper per annum in 2023 and set a target to reach a run rate of 300 million pounds per annum by the end of 2025. Freeport’s Cerro Verde operation recently was recognized with a Sustainable Development Award by Peru’s National Society of Mining, Petroleum and Energy for its slope failure alarm system. The system uses prism monitoring to predict large-scale mining slope collapses, resulting in faster emergency response. The project won in the Innovation and Technology category at the sustainability awards ceremony in Lima, marking the first year this category was included.
