Sámuel Szabolcsi joined the Flowserve team about five years ago, after his time at the Technical University of Budapest. As a Senior Engineer, Sámuel is fueled by his desire to know how machines function. His favorite part about his role is evaluating the fluid mechanical simulations he works on. “In this process, we can get an insight into what's going on in the machine and learn about it in detail.” Sámuel enjoys a challenging project, saying, “We often encounter cases where there is no ready-made solution, and we have to rely on our creativity and experiences to solve those problems.” Finding different solutions to his teams’ technical problems is what keeps him busy and motivates him daily. Working on challenging projects requires a team that works well together. Sámuel appreciates the knowledge and experiences his colleagues share with the team and the professionalism they bring to each project. “We work very well together and act as one to achieve our goals.” Outside of his job, Sámuel enjoys designing and building origami models. “Origami requires a lot of concentration, which helps me relax and clear my mind at the end of the day. It is also great for developing spatial vision and fine motor skills.”
Ivan started working at Flowserve over five years ago, serving in multiple positions including Accountant, Senior Financial Analyst and Cost Controller. He enjoys working with teams across multiple departments and coming together for one common goal – our customers. "Seeing different processes and perspectives across different departments adds great value to my day-to-day work.” Ivan says his responsibilities are extensive, and his work can be complex. “It’s often like a big puzzle that I get to discover and enjoy the flow of each day I go to work. This flow inspires me to move forward and progress with great colleagues who are consistently seeking innovative solutions as a team.” In his free time, Ivan enjoys exercising, playing football (soccer) on a local team, and playing with his son.
After college, David had a hard time finding a position in computer programming, so he secured a job as a CNC operator. Five years later, he brought his machining talent to #Flowserve. He enjoys math and working with numbers, both of which are needed for machining. “I’ve always been a technical kind of person, and this job requires technical know-how, so I like those challenges.” David’s proudest accomplishment is his promotion from Machinist 2 to Machinist 3. “With hard work, dedication and abundant mentorship, I had a working knowledge of most of the equipment in the manufacturing division here at the Bridgeport QRC in less than 2 years.” Asked about the mentorship part of his success and growth, David says Flowserve’s people have been key. “Almost all my colleagues and supervisors have inspired and encouraged me to do well, and they are always willing to share their knowledge.”
Meet Alan Garcia, our latest Employee Spotlight. He joined as a result of our college recruitment program in Mexico, starting in 2013 as a Manufacturing Engineer. Since then, he has worked diligently in a variety of positions to reach his current role, Quality Assurance Manager in which he oversees the region’s 10 facilities. Alan says the favorite part of his work is having the opportunity to “inspire the associates I work with and help them achieve things that may have seemed impossible before.” During an average week, he visits two sites every day so he is physically in all the region’s sites to support their projects and translate the division strategy into tailored, tactical plans. Alan is inspired by the chance to be part of building Flowserve’s future and creating those “extraordinary solutions to make the world better for everyone.” He takes ownership of the quality of work his region provides and says he always encourages his team members to feel proud of what they do. Outside of work, Alan enjoys camping, photography, and road tripping to Mexico’s many “Magical Towns.”

Last week we celebrated #NationalEmployeeAppreciationDay! We want to recognize and celebrate the incredible #Flowserve employees whose collective energy, hard work and dedication to our purpose continue to set us apart from the rest.
Hussain has been a part of the Flowserve team in Saudi Arabia for 13 years. In fact, he was the first Saudi national to join the team! He is constantly inspired by his work because of his team’s shared vision and appreciates the sense of ownership he feels over his work with constant opportunities to contribute to important projects; “I feel that I am part of something bigger than myself.”
For Teofilo, #Flowserve has been in his family as long as he remembers. His father worked at Flowserve for 40 years before Teofilo followed in his footsteps and joined the team 18 years ago. Teofilo finds his work compelling and challenging. “What I love about my job is to physically see the transformation of a raw piece, into a finished product that is able to exceed the expectations of the customer.” One of his favorite moments on the job was the 40th anniversary celebration of Flowserve’s Marcianise Site. Families were encouraged to come and visit the company and after Teofilo finished giving tours he said his son told him “Dad, I'm proud of you.” That day he realized that he had taken the right path and that Flowserve would be his future. Teofilo says he is inspired to come into work every day because of “the awareness that in my own small way I am doing something to make the world a better place.”
Jayce started his #Flowserve career at just 16-years-old when he joined his high school’s co-op program. He joined Flowserve full-time once he graduated and continues to build his expertise in machining. Mastering new challenges each day has inspired Jayce to grow in his career with Flowserve. He recently transitioned from machining to a role in maintenance. “What keeps me going each day is the challenge of something new. I get to create new parts, simplify how we make parts, and figure out how to improve the tools we use. As a machinist, I worked on setting up tooling for all the jobs that are run with my machines. Now that I am in maintenance, my job is to make sure our machines are capable of what they need to do.” Jayce serves as a backup lead on-site to a large team. He credits the mentors at his facility with helping him build his work ethic and always has fun with the group he works with.
Frank's career in machining began at age 13 when he began working on race cars. He landed a job at a machine shop building high performance engines, then spent 14 years growing his expertise in valves and seals before joining Flowserve. He enjoys the detail in the parts that he builds today at our Baton Rouge Quick Response Center and how it challenges him to do top-quality work. “I do 5 access milling and work with our group leaders to see what jobs need to go out to the customers. Time is the biggest focus at our QRC. Every morning I plan out how to create a quality product as fast as possible for the customer.” After 3 years with #Flowserve, Frank still finds new opportunities to sharpen his machining skills. He recently worked on a new method to make faster improvements to parts, and he has been able to expand that knowledge to the team to improve lead times. “In our QRC, communication is valuable. We communicate so well and have a great work environment. There’s room for growth at our facility. You can go as far as you want, and you’re encouraged to do your best every day."
