Last September, Belle rang the bell on the fifth floor of CHOC, signifying she had completed her cancer treatment. “I can’t imagine what my journey would’ve been like at any other hospital,” she says. A new program is giving young patients with cancer a chance to safeguard their fertility prior to treatment—offering hope for building a family later in life. “At CHOC, we always strive to give our oncology patients something to look forward to after their treatment,” says Dr. Carol Lin, pediatric oncologist at the Hyundai Cancer Institute at CHOC. “We don’t want to limit their opportunity to have children if this is something they end up desiring.”
