Over the past two weeks, 34 Danish and international students from Aarhus University - studying musicology, culture, design, and other creative disciplines - delved into the rich sonic landscape of Struer and its community. Their work centres on Bang & Olufsen’s unique relationship with our hometown - a bond built over more than 100 years of shared pride, loyalty, and dedication. Through interviews with current employees and members of the pensioners’ community, the Beonists, the students uncovered a deep sense of belonging. They were surprised by how seamlessly knowledge, craft, and company spirit are passed from one generation to the next- and how even retired colleagues still speak of B&O as “we.” The resulting installation, Courageously it’s done…, captures the heartbeat of the B&O community in sound — from the satisfying click of vintage radio buttons to fragments of personal stories and echoes of our shared past and present. Bang & Olufsen at Innovation Camp 2025 – Inspiring the Future of Sound From July 7–25, 2025, Bang & Olufsen joined Innovation Camp 2025 at Sound Hub Denmark, Struer – the Silicon Valley of Sound. This year’s theme, RE-SOUND: Innovation in Sound Technology & Circular Economy, united 29 students from DTU, Aarhus University, Cracow University of Technology, and Aalto University to solve real-world challenges in sound, healthcare, and sustainability. Our role included mentorship, expert panel participation, and a behind-the-scenes tour of our design, assembly, repair, and innovation departments. Students also explored our rich heritage at the Struer Museum, seeing how innovation has shaped our journey. Six international teams developed prototypes ranging from noise-cancelling in-ear monitors for neurodivergent users to self-powered underwater monitoring systems—all focused on reducing e-waste and enhancing user experience. The camp fostered multidisciplinary teamwork, cultural exchange, and industry-academia collaboration, proving that when creativity meets technology, the results are transformative.
Since 1925, Bang & Olufsen has crafted timeless audio products that combine bold innovation, iconic design, and enduring quality. Our legacy is not only in creating beauty, but in preserving it—through decades of repair, refurbishment, and restoration services that extend the life of our products. From reissuing classics like the Beosystem 9000c, where we restored original units in our Struer factory, to continuously supporting older products, we have always believed longevity is the ultimate sustainability. As the first consumer electronics brand to achieve Cradle to Cradle Certified® status, we’re proud to pioneer circular design. Products like Beosound Level, Beosound Emerge, and Beosound A5 have earned Bronze-level certification under the world’s most rigorous sustainability standard, meeting strict criteria for material health, product circularity, climate impact, water and soil stewardship, and social fairness. Our approach blends luxury with responsibility: modular designs, repairable parts, replaceable covers, and software updates keep our products relevant for decades. With a goal of net-zero emissions by 2027 and a fully circular value chain by 2040, we’re shaping a future where electronics are not disposable, but cherished, refined, and reborn—proving that true craftsmanship never goes out of style.
