This is a 15 year old company which acts like a startup. I took an internship here to hold me over while I was looking for a real job. I was hired within 5 minutes after being asked a couple of very generic questions and without a request for references - red flags. The company seems to mainly hire interns; there are only a few permanent employees, one of which is the boss's wife - more red flags. No benefits whatsoever for even the permanent employees, but the boss flies first class to conferences - red red red. There's no pattern to who gets paid what - I received $8 an hour (the legal minimum hourly wage) while another intern got $4 an hour. The CEO is an odd guy - seemingly nice and normal at first, but can turn into an absolute monster at the blink of an eye. He seems to have a short temper which manifests with him yelling at employees in front of others for minor mistakes. He also enjoys pitting two employees against one another in contests, which he did for four employees with the promise of a permanent position for the "winner." No one ever got the job. He apologizes if confronted in private after his tantrums - fine, but by that point you've already humiliated your employee and completely lost their respect towards you. He seems smart enough in some ways, but should not be in absolutely any position to manage ANY amount of employees. I stuck around for a while and was excited and enthusiastic at first, but the toxic environment and constant fear of the boss defeated me fairly soon. In the end, I absolutely hated the job, which I'm sure showed since the boss fired me some time before my internship was supposed to end. Thankfully, I found a job at another company almost immediately, with benefits, a good (annual!) salary and, perhaps most importantly, a respectful, smart and considerate boss who appreciates me and my work. No one should have to work in this kind of environment, and I fear that the ones who are still at the company are only doing so because they don't know any better or can't find anything better. There are plenty of smart, hardworking people at this firm who could be so much more appreciated elsewhere. I know for a fact that almost every other employee was actively looking for another position, and virtually no one trusted or respected the boss. Hopefully this review will help anyone who's considering a position here. Don't do it - you'll be much happier elsewhere!
