Pros

New office, Benefits Package and 401K plans are nice

Kontras

1. The lack of training for their own employees is the biggest con. The old database, which has to be painstakingly configured to get the programs to work properly, is 30 years old and always has some weird 'trick' to get it to work. There are multiple 'Modules" like this and they have developed new screens to 'cover up' the old engine. All the people that are hired in dont know about how a Pension, Claims, Eligibility etc. module is set up and how it is supposed to work. How could they? The company depends on the very very few senior employees left to be responsible for helping the 50 new employees that are always stuck and frustrated to help them along. These people already have many things they are doing and some are very rude and short and basically give the newer employees a hard time when they ask for help. I guess they would considering this company is continually hiring new people because of the super high turnover rate. People leave in droves. Its exhausting working here. Recently, there was a new 'knowledge transfer' training program put in place but it seems only a handful of people have actually completed it and HALF of them have already left! What about the other 40 employees?? 2. For a company that has been in business so long you would think there would be standard processes in place. Well.... guess again because there arent. If you get properly written requirements for a piece of software you are lucky. There is no standard format for how to write requirements and what to include in them so when you pass it to development, they know how to code, how it is supposed to work and how to test their work. They are not claims, eligibility or pension people! This information should be included in the standard requirement documentation --if there is ever one designed. How does a technical writer write user documentation from no requirements? How can you create quality software with no R from the R & D process?? 3. Due to the lack of proper planning on managments behalf, employees are told they have to work all day then work more at night to finish complex projects and meet strict deadlines. It certainly shows a lack of accountability if employees are doing this over and over and over and no one repairs the problem. The more hours a person works, the less it benefits them to work here. The hourly rate begins to look like minimum wage. On top of that the PTO time is minimal. Holiday time is NOT paid time- it is an employees PTO time they have accrued. Paid holidays should be paid by the company and not part of PTO time.

Pros

Above average benefits, especially for a company of their size - note I worked here pre-acquisition. Multiple health plan options, including high-deductible plan with an HSA that company contributed to. 4-weeks of PTO to start, if I recall. Nice 401K match. Generous with home office equipment and even went so far as to provide office supplies when everyone was saving money working from home in height of Covid.

Kontras

No cons as far as benefits
