- Marketing isn't understood, it's run by a department of people who have been at the company for some time but have little-to-no understanding for Retail Marketing Functions- often these are Operational/Stock/Logistical specialists for example.
- Company isn't agile, market share is dropping on a daily basis due to competitors understanding Markets better and addressing targets accordingly.
- Stubborn Branding, granted they are targeting an older area of the market which perhaps doesn't notice this as younger market, but there hasn't been an adjustment to content in years.
- Lack of investment in Marketing software, do not expect to see Marketo, Salesforce, Tableau type technologies- you won't find it here
- Awful Management, internally it was quite clear that one figure in the department was the reason for the awful employee retention, however this figure was continually promoted.
- Culture of Bullying to some degree, figure stated in previous point ran it autonomously, without input of other areas and other voices.
- They won a notable Which? Award, Trustpilot is fairly strong, but these are vastly relied upon and there's no concern for lack of awards/recognition since these.
- Recruitment is concerning, the amount of strong talent being headhunted, to be replaced by people who have no experience or intent to be in the industry.
- Heavy investment into Affiliate Marketing, an aspect of the Marketing Mix which has diminished in effectiveness in recent years.
