Pros
- The actual game devs here are some of the most talented and kind people you'll ever meet in the industry. I truly couldn't have chosen a better set of people to be trauma bonded for life with! - This place is a great a stepping stone to get your foot in the door. It's honestly great exposure to horrible management that will really help you put an end to your imposter syndrome when you realize the company is run by a man-child!
Kontras
- You ever heard of the freshman 15 for college students? Try the Wonder Works 20! Everyone who has worked here has either gained or lost 20 pounds from the sheer amount of stress that you experience from working here. - Don't ever get your hopes up on moving up the ladder for a new title or to get a higher salary. HR has historically advised people who request a bump in pay, to simply find a job elsewhere! - You can never be sick, ever. Even if you have an extreme allergic reaction that requires an emergency room visit and/or are bed-ridden on doctor's orders, you can bet you'll have upper management reach out to ask if you can still come in tomorrow! They simply can't afford to lose anyone! - Sure, some may say that having 3 waves of layoffs, totaling around 25+ people getting fired (including a mother on maternity leave during Christmas Break) in a single year, might reflect poorly on the business. But if you have them sign NDAs forcing them to stay quiet and not talk poorly of the company if they want to receive any type of severance pay, how will people ever know? :D - CEO and upper management are obsessed with having hybrid roles. What is that you may ask? Well... because why would you pay for a dedicated Rigger or Level Designer to exist on the team, when you can just ask your traumatized employees (who are quite literally scared everyday they come into work), to "take one for the team!" - The studio has a history of laying off employees and then asking their remaining team to learn / take on the roles of those who were fired. For no additional pay, despite the additional workload. - Absolutely terrifying how the CEO handles big brand projects. They have historically only viewed partnership games as money to help fund their internal "IP." Most brand/partnership projects get tossed to the side or put on the back burner to fulfill the CEO's big ideas that'll surely be the next "pixar of roblox"!! - And when they finally remember they promised a game to be delivered, they'll ask their team to come work after hours and through the weekend without pay to meet the deadline!! - The work culture here is very much like high-school. If you're not in with the CEO's clique, you really don't exist. - No amount of concerns or complaints will ever be addressed, especially if you're a woman or POC. Speaking up will only ever put a target on your back.
