Pros
The only thing I can think of is making a difference for victims of domestic violence.
Kontras
A lot. The team is extremely cliquey and will purposely exclude you for being "different". The management is hypocritical, as they tell you working in a team is the "most important thing" yet nobody here has each other's back. As a new employee, you are treated less than, smaller than everyone unless you can fit in right away. Whenever I asked questions training, coworkers would roll their eyes and give me answers with backhanded sarcasm. Is that really how you treat a new employee? Communication doesn't exist here either, so you'll be told a million and one different things before you actually find the correct answer. Interns are treated very well here and coworkers/supervisors are always very friendly towards them. In fact, they encourage them to ask questions. As a house advocate, you're not treated with that respect and are shamed for not knowing answers. There have been times when colleagues of mine outed me in front of guests at the safe house. Management will tell you that they trust you, but will undermine your work at every turn or will make you feel bad for making a decision on your own even though that is encouraged by them. It's one confusing experience, to say the least… This place is all sorts of twisted with no clear guidelines in place.
