If you are a very very specific type of person, This place will treat you like a rock star. Also, you will likely learn a lot here.

So here is the low down, getting at the root of all the negative reviews. WCG is a place that builds its professional culture on people being strong individuals who take initiative and be their own advocate. Most people are given a lot of autonomy to forge their own relationships and build their own in-company business; and if you do this effectively, you are rocketed up and touted as a rockstar. Those are the ONLY people who are valued at this company. It is entrepreneurialism at its most extreme. Those who don't follow that mold are literally fodder for the entrepreneurs with huge personalities and even huger egos. It doesn't matter if you are awesome within your own niche. If you are not rallying the masses as a leader or generating business momentum, then you are just a tool to be used. This is where the cliques, favoritism and politics that everyone mentions come in as well. Since the interpersonal structure is centered around these select ego-centric entrepreneurs, everyone else is made to fall in line with their own 'leader.' And each group ends up sticking to their own...

What pulled me back to WCG was Jim Weiss, the founder and CEO of W2O Group (WCG, a W20 Group company) whom over the last 14 years has developed a culture based on the same core values that I live by everyday, professionally. Jim is authentic. His approach is transparent. The result is an award-winning set of companies with jaw-dropping talent, who make an impact in the healthcare, technology and consumer global brands’ industries everyday. As Jim says, “ultimately, we are in the business to partner with our clients to enhance their businesses.” I’d even take that a step further and say that we don’t just enhance businesses, we enhance lives -- the result is growth -- personal and professional, inside and out. I’m happy to get to work with such amazing people so that we can enhance our clients’ businesses, enhance their lives, our lives, our world.

Because I have children, I have to drive and parking is a challenge/costly. The benefits do offset this one con. If you're coming from the city or the South Bay, there's plenty of transportation options.

Pros

There were 3 reasons why I came to WCG and why I've remained here for half a decade: 1. Independence Has Its Perks: I knew that I wanted to be part of an independent agency that had the agility to hire ahead of the curve and make investments in technologies and people that could give the business a competitive advantage. 2. Work with Brilliant, Strategic People: I was blown away in my interview by all of the strategic and experienced folks I was meeting with – I thought that I could learn something from my future colleagues. Five years later and I'm still learning from them every day. 3. Career Trajectory Driven by the Employee: It became clear to me in the interview process that this was a very entrepreneurial environment and your career would be whatever you desired at WCG - I couldn't imagine where I am today and look forward to where I'll be 5 years from now. Other pros are: great access to the CEO, ability to get introduced to/work in other communication specialties and help introduce the future of the communications industry.

If change, accountability, ambiguity or a fast-paced working environment frighten you, then this isn't your place. I want colleagues who want to take an opportunity by the horns, own it and get results.

Thank you for your feedback. To your point, our entrepreneurial, fast- paced environment emables those who are driven to by limitless career opportunities and are passionate about their work. We enjoy hearing that you enjoy the collaborative work space, accessibility to CEO and working with your team members. We have grown at a rapid rate which poses some structural issues that we are proactively fixing through trainings in W2O University and a stronger focus on streamlined internal communications. We appreciate your comments and have directed them tot leadership.
