Most project managers have joined VSI straight out of university. They are underpaid, overlooked, overworked but don’t know any better as this is their first job. Anyone joining VSI from another company do not last and are quick to leave. Constant turnover of senior management. This place is a circus, management seems constantly under pressure and as a result passes on the stress to their team. They seem to be bullied by the Managing Director who does not hesitate to shout or embarrass any of them in front of their team. She can be seen/heard shouting and be aggressive towards them. On numerous occasions staff would have caught some of them crying in a corner. She creates a tense environment where everyone competes and stabs each other’s in the back and is the number one reason for the high turnaround of staff. Her lack of trust (or confidence) and understanding of the localisation industry means she wants to be informed and involved in anything which brings constant delays to the job and loss of opportunities. She relies on an incompetent and cocky Sales team who has very little knowledge of languages and only think about their target without taking into consideration the actual human effort involved. They do not realise that they could not do their job without the PMs and should show a minimum of gratitude and respect. Having said that, the latest additions to this team over the last year seem to be different than the others, so let’s be optimistic and hope the others (who should have left the company long ago!) will learn from them... Project Managers are constantly being blamed for allocating too many hours to a job so end up lying on their timesheets to don’t get into trouble. Every month PMs are being questioned about their timesheet and utilisation. They are being blamed for not working enough or not being efficient enough even if most of them arrive early, skip their lunch and leave the office late everyday. Technology is dated and well behind competition, a lot of promises but every single initiative is cancelled as too many people get involved. HR has a very high staff turnaround and seems to be working for the MD rather than the people. Benefits are poor and very limited. Company meetings done after hours on a Friday evening.

The use of timesheets is a standard practice for any company operating in the service sector and the purpose of these is to enable us to monitor capacity and utilisation, and to understand the areas where we need to allocate resources. To support the growing business demands we have also been recruiting for additional headcount throughout the year as well as promoting opportunities for internal progression. As an independent review platform, Glassdoor has a firm policy whereby companies cannot alter or remove reviews, something of which we fully respect.
