Pros
- Steep learning curve: if you're serious about your career, this job gives you the opportunity to learn a lot about the field you're interested in. The knowledge and skills I developed at Visiongain were extremely useful in my next career steps. But mind: it's mostly a personal effort - you need to be curious, proactive and self-motivated. - You're free to organise your work as you wish: just meet the final deadline of the report. - 9 to 5.30 job - though some extra-hours are needed if you are unlucky enough to be updating a report which dates back to when the company was running on a 'sell cheap crap' philosophy. The company has been aiming for higher quality in recent years to get much-needed repeat business, so more recent reports are easier to update. - Colleagues are young, and mostly nice.
Kontras
- Stupid micromanagement on pointless stuff such as: eating at desks, clock-in/out times, breaks, days off, etc. You're treated as a schoolchildren; trust in employees is very low, though I could see some improvements over time. - Little to no training. Some meaningful training has been introduced in the company's best teams recently (most notably Energy), but standard induction used to be nothing more than a useless 1h powerpoint presentation. - Utterly incompetent managers, who are sadly unskilled. Most Visiongain's cons are direct responsibility of uninspiring, unfit senior managers. - Pay is not competitive at all. No wonder office turnover is high.
