Pros

Cost of living in Blacksburg, VA is so low, that I have no problem living with a low income. If I ever have a problem HR is always there to help. Benefits are great! If you are in need of experience, great place to get it. They offer free classes and training courses. I have never had a problem taking time off and we receive plenty of holiday hours. Our college loves to have potlucks, work environment is always fun/energetic and everyone at the school is very kind.

Kontras

Located in a very small town, without the school there would be nothing here. Don't expect to get away from students. Just to give you an idea, the next town over is properly named "Christiansburg" (so you may love it or hate it, sadly there is absolutely no in between), this town is what you make of it, not much here. No room for growth, getting a job in the school is tough, trying to move anywhere in the college is almost impossible. Do not get involve with school politics. You will have to pay over $120 for parking a year and will never find a parking spot (they are even building on existing parking areas so parking will be reduced in the coming years). So far my college has pushed two people into retirement, would not recommend this job for your career.
