Pros
Colleagues are lovely, very friendly and helpful Great culture among engineers, e.g. being able to ask for help in public Slack channels, and people will help you out Teams are practicing psychological safety - e.g. people are encouraged to speak up, give input, there's no punishment for mistakes
Kontras
There's a high workload, and many product teams are grappling with getting burned out, managers are very stressed too. Working hours are 40 hours per week - the topic of reducing working hours to more traditional 37.5 hours came up a few times but was never actioned. To do something good for employee's wellbeing I think 40 hours per week are not appropriate anymore. There are lots of company surveys but very little good change is actually arriving at the team level. And there were 2 rounds of redundancies not even within a year - which also impacted engineering. Engineering leadership is not very technical compared to other companies, so it can be hard to make cases for initiatives to improve code quality or improve the developer experience.
