Pros

It’s a job that pays better than most social work positions in the Bay Area. Great co worker experience.

Kontras

It’s not for the ambitious. You are fighting against too many dilemma’s. A flawed system who pays organizations like Unity Care Group millions of dollars solely to babysit TAY youth, unqualified upper management who’ve never worked in residential settings, an environment where low income is considered $100k and a group of kids who have been so traumatized by institutions like foster care and juvenile halls ( hell holes for poor people) that they don’t trust people. The exec director is not a bad guy. He’s a man who thinks he can be Batman without the money or support to do what actually works. Go in, do your job and keep the rapport simple. You are staff and they are children. Distract them as much as possible. Don’t ever handle anything on your own. Let upper management deal with everything. Let them take on the stress of teenage drama. It’s not worth the stress.
