Pros
Ability to somewhat have control of your schedule. Once your student is booked, it is up to you to make a set schedule and communicate with the client/client's parents. I like that the middle man is cut out of the communication.
Kontras
Flat rate of pay with no potential for raises. You are considered a contractor, so get ready to pay those taxes out of your refund during tax season. No centralized location so you will have to get to your client's houses on your own and sometimes deal with less than ideal conditions in terms of cleanliness. You are not matched by your skill, the owner simply sends an email out to ALL his tutors and says "Can someone take this?" When you respond 5 minutes later, you will only hear back if you got the student - otherwise you'll be left hanging. Not much support outside of the owner offering clients to tutors. Inconsistent email responses, inconsistent hours. I suppose depending on the owner's preference, he will assign many students to one tutor and the next tutor will have no students.
