Pros

Some of the people are absolutely awesome The work is not physically demanding 99% of the time Not tied down in an office

Some of the people can't tell their [backside] from a hole in the ground Always on the road driving Getting screwed out of stuff (parties, lunches, etc) because you are not part of an office Some really, REALLY inane people in "leadership" positions Forget about having a life outside of work as you have to "be available" 24/7... and not get paid for it Covering other territories in addition to your own for weeks and never so much as a thank you Constant changing of decisions/directions from 'on high' with no explanation or warning Being lied to by upper management on a regular basis Being sent to perform installs without any training for it, and then not getting the installer's bonus because you are not an installer Being put into impossible positions by upper management and being told to "make it happen" Being ordered to make after-hours calls when you in the process of leaving to go on vacation just because the boss's boss wants to swing his [dangly bit] No raises for three years but the company is hiring new people for your same position at a higher hourly wage Having to go and do someone else's job because they can't be bothered to put forth the same amount of effort as you How many more do you want, I could go on for hours...

Flexible PTO Easy work Okay pay for work done

Outdated/rednecked tech results in tasks being harder than they should be Virtually no training outside of the first week Knowledge base is extremely poorly managed with out a lot of useless or wrong information Most techs aren't willing to share knowledge Outsourcing support to other countries Some managers ignore reports of other techs not doing their job and do nothing about it
