Pros

Interesting concept with a lot of potential, however the execution and ambiguity makes for an unpredictable work environment coupled with having to deal with inflated egos.

Kontras

Stability issues from a product and work environment perspective. Unclear expectations on hiring and an isolated, burned out middle management who fosters unrealistic expectations for their peers. It is a trickle down model that breeds negativity at every stage.

Pros

Solid business model and niche market. Fast moving, mix of technologies, opportunities to take ownership.

Kontras

Quick software pivots can require long winded implementation schedules at short notice. Favouritism amongst teams who've known each other prior to employment at the company.

Pros

Some smart people who genuinely want to improve things. A chance to learn how banks handle post-trade surveillance and compliance tools. For people without a finance background, it can be a way to get exposure to the financial industry.

Kontras

The company markets itself as a trading platform, but it doesn’t do any trading. The real work is focused on bank back-office surveillance systems. The technology stack is very outdated. Most development is done in a proprietary in-house language, which isn’t used anywhere else and lacks modern tooling or libraries. This makes it hard to transition to other roles in mainstream finance or technology later on. Data quality is inconsistent, with frequent missing or incorrect entries in the system. The culture encourages long hours and has limited collaboration between teams. Pay and work-life balance are below what you’d expect for similar back-office roles in banks. Most employees (apart from senior management) don’t have finance degrees or finance experience, which is fine for newcomers but can be limiting for those coming from finance — it doesn’t lead to traditional finance or trading careers. Public reviews and internal messaging often don’t match the actual work environment.
