Pros

Benefits are great, job security is a plus

You will be worked hard and burnout happens quickly. There is no prioritization of employee's emotional and mental wellbeing. The mental health department social workers have over 100 clients on their caseloads, so it's primarily supportive counseling. You see around 8-10 clients back-to-back everyday. There's minimal clinical support. Communication from the county is great - especially with all covid updates. However, intradepartmental communication has lots of room for improvement. There is so little follow through with policy updates, procedure updates, etc. Some of the leadership team is disconnected from their job which falls on their staff who are not qualified nor paid for these responsibilities.

Pros

Relaxed and caring environment. Work-life balance is a plus. Provides free bus passes to work. A thoughtful county organization that prioritizes the needs and concerns of community residents.

Kontras

The medical benefits are not so great. Dental is more than medical. Hiring many young people who superficially seem to know what they are doing.
