The only pro about Thorlabs is, hopefully one day, not working at Thorlabs. If you want your career to go into a blackhole forever, work at Thorlabs.

This is a joke of a company. It is the movie "Office Space" personified. The dictionary definition of "dead end job." This is where people's careers go to die. You will get paid poorly, regardless of the job. The pay is well below market, and the company does not care about it. You will get a measly 2-3% raise each year, regardless of promotion or work output. They occasionally will offer something called "Success Share" at the end of each year, which they brand as a bonus. But it is a bonus that gets paid out certain years and not paid out at all in other years. It is a nothing burger, however. Maybe a couple thousand bucks. It is not based on a percentage of your salary. Instead, it is a four figure sum and does nothing to improve your finances in a meaningful way. This is the stingiest place I have ever worked. Everyone has a shoestring budget and each department or team is staffed by a skeleton crew. They want the business to grow, but yet do not invest in enough staff to support said business. The office is in the middle of literally nowhere. The drive to the office is littered with burned out buildings and marijuana dispensaries. The work is beyond boring. It is tedious to the max. You learn nothing meaningful here, just push paper all day, every day. Thorlabs is a joke of a company cosplaying as a real company. Do not get fooled. If you work here, you have hardly any exit options. You will be stuck in this weird industry that Thorlabs occupies. The skills are not transferable. Other potential employers will not take you seriously. You will also work with extremely weird, annoying people while here. RUN, RUN, RUN. I would give it zero or negative stars if I could.
