Pros
Kind and supportive staff when you look for them, a nice office in times square full of teaching supplies. Pay is reasonable, if you don't have a college degree. The variety of experiences allow you a strong insight into the full scope of the public school system in NYC.
Kontras
It's a weird time to be working at Leadership due to the impending (likely massive) funding cuts. A lot of tension with administrative staff. As said previously, the site supervisors truly vary. Some are very nice and supportive, others not so much. It seems as if this work is glamorized at the orientations but let's be real here- you're going into struggling public schools. It's often challenging work, depending on the location and age group. I feel that in a rush to get people into certain school placements I was coerced into a placement at school that didn't want the leadership program there in the first place.
