Pros

- Most employees (over 95%, I think) are approachable, easy to work with, and don't get egotistical about their work - Work/life balance - Ability for most employees to work remotely - Mostly positive attitudes - Agile workplace not only in tech development, but also in HR. Hence, there has been improvements in many areas - Improvement in workload and development deadlines for those who a previous reviewer talked about when deadlines are too close - Lunch twice a week served courtesy of the company - Very good benefits. I never worry about the cost of healthcare

Kontras

There have been questionable choices of hiring that makes me wonder how much longer it will take the company to turn a profit. Some people are not paid what they are worth, which I think is why they leave. That's too bad, since the product is worth spending more on the salaries of those who can make it even better. The company is lacking technical oversight. There are too many differences in how different teams approach the product. In spite of the ability to work remotely, a lot of employees are not good with IM or keeping communication open and letting the rest of team know what's going on, so a lot of time gets wasted from work-doubling and resulting inefficiency from not getting "the memo." Morgan left. He was a spirit-lifter and pushed to get us decent bonuses.

Pros

For a publishing company, the pay and benefits are great. Just off the 101. Truly an open-door company. No problems sitting down with the CEO. John Loughlin is great: a true leader, and one of the best listeners I've ever met. A lot of the engineers are real team players, which helps make the culture warm and inviting. There is a lot of support whether you are female, disabled, or just have lower self-esteem. Just say something.

Kontras

For a tech company, the pay and benefits are just okay. Too far to walk from Caltrain. Some of the engineers have egos that are difficult to work with, but isn't that everywhere? Not a lot of employees with publishing experience, so the publishing part needs some help.
