Pros
For someone with little to no IT training, the Help Desk in Kingsport can be a seen as a good way to pick up a few years of solid experience in a Windows environment, while receiving reasonable pay. The work is not particularly difficult or strenuous, with a solid network of support groups and subject matter experts.

Easily the biggest issue with the Kingsport Help Desk is stagnation. Getting a promotion is all but impossible, leaving you stuck in a rut for many years. This obviously has a negative impact on morale, with many employees basically limping through the day. Despite being in a very desirable field (IT) the company does nothing to further the career opportunities for their Help Desk techs, offering no form of training or certification compensation. The somewhat meager wages make paying for such training out of pocket unfeasible. The Help Desk management also tends to treat the shift workers (a vital role) like complete garbage. There is no shift differential, despite rotating 12-shifts (half of them graveyard). These roles are particularly stagnant, because getting someone else to take one of these slots is all but impossible. Operation the switchboard (a role that is not even vaguely in the realm of IT) is often handed off to these shift workers, on top of their standard duties. Favoritism/nepotism is also a major issue. Some employees can get away with pretty much anything while others are scrutinized at every turn. Pay differences are quite wild, with a few colleagues getting paid about 50% more working the same job, for no clear reason.
