Pros
None, I am hoping to get paid through Field Nation for a one day Switch install
Kontras
WhatsApp request is usually a bad sign. They contacted me on Field Nation for a routine switch install/cutover. They constantly sent Teams messages asking when parts had arrived at my apartment and yet they had the Amazon tracking information. The address for the site to be serviced was bogus! In the middle of a field! When I asked to clarify they gave me the contact at the site (rural Kansas, area I service, farm animals that were used for pharma research). The onsite person provided a legit address. The weirdest part was the cluelessness of their communications. They sent me a Teams link for a remote engineer to direct my installation: very normal. But, they never attended the Teams call and kept sending requests for updates while was on a ladder installing 2 switches in the small IDF and seemed clueless why I didn’t respond during the 2 hour cutover which was very demanding. My point is: when a legit project manager knows you have both hands full and are working a remote engineer, they understand you can’t update every 5 minutes.
Then they asked for a “time stamp” and detailed report of the installation. I asked if they recorded or copied the Teams chat with myself and 2 or 3 others I THOUGHT weee the same company. They originally said I would do a smart hands install and a site survey that had to be detailed etc. Then they asked me to ask the remote engineer if he wanted a site survey. Lots of redundant micro managed requests like they were totally out of the loop and bogus answers on why they skipped out on the Teams call which would have thoroughly provided every detail and pic uploaded.
I am hoping I get paid but at least I can file a motion through Field Nation.
They were very pushy. No phone calls, just Teams chat. And after I documented everything on Field Nation, another person was asking for updates and saying…” what is going on? Did you ever reach the remote engineer?” etc. They also never mentioned the remote engineers name.
Usually a legitimate project manager will request: “ please join the Teams call at 2pm with Bob Smith, etc…” These people are VERY SHADY. And the reviews echo my experience. Field Nation should deplatform them immediately!
