Pros
Working at TaskUs was one of the most positive professional experiences I've had. The people and the team were absolutely incredible. My leader was inspiring, supportive, and genuinely cared about our wellbeing and professional growth. The culture encouraged direct communication, collaboration, and psychological safety. There was no sense of territoriality around projects; everyone worked as a functional unit focused on achieving the best outcomes rather than protecting individual ownership. This made it easy to build consensus and deliver high-quality work. The company also demonstrated a genuine commitment to employee wellbeing. Access to coaching, mental health resources, courses, and therapists went beyond what I've seen at other organizations. With an academic background, I translated my research and behavioral science expertise into practical business applications and continue to learn and grow. Strong planning and organization helped avoid unnecessary last-minute pressure, contributing to an excellent work-life balance.
Kontras
One challenge was the gap between generating evidence-based insights and driving their adoption within the business. At times, there seemed to be resistance to change or difficulty translating internally generated research into actionable decisions. Accessing data for research projects could also be complex, creating friction for teams trying to move quickly and generate impact. Additionally, while compensation was fair, it could be more competitive compared to similar roles in the market. My departure was the result of a company restructuring, and the process was unfortunately difficult and emotionally challenging. While this did not reflect my day-to-day experience, it did influence my overall perception of the organization.
