This was the best team I’ve ever worked for and the best work I’ve ever done. For the short time I was there, I thought I had finally found my place.

One day, the company announced via slack message that they were bankrupt and shut down. It was just a short “whoopsie” message with a sad face emoji tacked on at the end. In one day, thousands of people were unemployed. Not only that, but many of those people never got paid for months of work. The company had no money and hadn’t paid many of us for weeks or months.
