Pros
Decent starting pay, nice coworkers, and clean work areas. I truly liked the majority of my coworkers and always felt that my peers were eager to help out.
Kontras
Fake company culture, lack of training, and bad management. There was very little training; in many instances, I was expected to handle duties that I was not even vetted on. Also, scheduling was a nightmare. I worked here throughout the pandemic and always had issues with the management's systems. Being a college student, I once requested off specific blocks of time so that I could take my final exams. I normally did not work during these times, but I made sure to request it off anyway. Not only did HR ignore this request, but I was then scheduled to work two 8 hour shifts during these times I requested off a month in advance. Also, they called me in to work at 3 a.m. the morning after Christmas and at 5 a.m. on New Years Day. After showing up at 5 a.m., I was told that this store was letting all seasonal associates go. I was never told I was seasonal and was more annoyed that they couldn't have just called me. But the absolute worst part has to be the customer service aspect. During the height of the pandemic, we would be scolded if we suggested someone should wear a mask. The "culture" of Target is based on masquerading the company as an upper-class oasis when in reality, it's just Walmart in a costume. At least at Walmart, the customers know that your job sucks while Target expects you to show up in khakis and matching shirts just to peddle overpriced goods to customers. The hilarious thing is that Target would throw "bonuses" at us and claim they were going to institute a free-tuition program. What they leave out is that the majority of their workforce during the peak seasons is seasonal associates who don't qualify for the program. The company makes a slick profit off the back of desperate individuals looking for liveable wages and a sustainable job.
