Pros

Office is located in a great building. They paid for parking. Provided coffee and bottled water.

Kontras

Projects sprung on you with urgency on a daily basis (it seemed like a setup for you not to meet your goals so you don’t get your commissions). Commissions are only paid if the boss is ‘having a good week’. No room for advancement or greater opportunity. (No one has even stayed long enough to actually grow.) If you don’t work overtime (for free) you’re hardly working. Hours were 7-4, but you’re expected to stay until 7 even if your projects were done at 4. Barry is extremely power hungry with a childlike mind and teenage attitude.

Our hours for most full-time, non-exempt employees are 7am to 4pm. Executives and Directors who are exempt are sometimes expected to, and do work later. However, most employees are out the door by 4:30pm most days. We are a fast-paced sales organization, and some people can't get on board with that. And it's okay; it's just not a good fit for everyone. We are a group who likes to roll our sleeves up, and get as much done as we can every day. Our clients count on us and deserve that. As in every company, sometimes employees don't get the job done, or aren't doing their job well. We always coach them through it. It's true, some employees can't turn it around and are let go or leave on their own, but they are never caught by surprise if they are let go due to lack of performance. Barry does not speak negatively about clients, that just isn't true. Every company is bound to have challenges with clients, but Barry is the first one to correct an employee if they go down the path of bad mouthing a client or partner. The clients are whom we ultimately have to answer, and we remind ourselves of that every day.

Pros

Company creates opportunities for hard working talented professionals who want to be judged on performance. CEO has legacy of training and promoting some of the industry's leadership.

Kontras

Not a good place to work for the lazy and people who during the interview process lied about qualifications. The company is performance based and rewards the best and gets rid of the posers.

Pros

Paid downtown parking and learning how to identify when your boss is lying to your face.

Kontras

By all means possible, stay away from Table Bay Financial/America’s Tax Solutions. This place is a mess with no signs of getting better. Its President, Barry Bulakites, is a great salesman and can talk circles around most, but if you are unfortunate enough to get a job here, you will soon learn that there is no substance behind his words. He will say that there is great growth potential and opportunities to make lots of money. He may even give you a fancy job title. The truth is that the titles do not mean anything considering the company does not have more than 15 employees and everyone reports to Barry. In addition, the base pay is less than average, bonuses will not be met due to the impossible and ever-changing goals, your cost-share for basic insurance is $100+ per paycheck, there is no retirement plan (despite touting to clients the importance of having one), there are no innovative ideas or real strategic plans to follow, and Barry does not trust anyone’s work so he micromanages everything. So it should not be a surprise that there is a revolving door of employees and clients continue to migrate away to other companies that actually provide sales and marketing support.

I am really sorry this was not a good fit for you. Again, we are a sales organization, and people who work hard, and meet goals, can make a lot of money. Some people would rather collect a steady check, and don't want bonuses and commissions to be a part of that, and that is okay for many other companies and positions. But we are a sales organization, and like many sales organizations, sales people receive the majority of their compensation through commissions. We are definitely not a company that likes to micromanage, but if someone is not getting the job done, then it's our duty to all our other employees and our clients, to take a closer look. There is great growth and income potential for those who understand and like sales, and are willing to work hard. We look for people who like a challenge and are natural go-getters. If sales were easy, we could effortlessly find anyone to do it.
