Pros

Obviously - posted work. That's if you get a good placement. Trips - The destination I was placed in gave the reps a lot of free trips.

Kontras

-Pay. I was paid roughly £600 a month for full time work, 5 and a half days a week. They pay you to the minimum wage of the country you are posted to, not to UK minimum wage, which is strange considering you're on a UK contract and UK tax laws? Deductions will occur if you go over your allotted energy usage in your apartments (they have no smart meters and do not tell you as you are approaching this, even though they should), and if any of the technology breaks, or is stolen in your care, you are responsible for replacing it. I was told I would earn roughly 450-550 euro in commission a month, but earnt no more than 80-100 a month due to being in a three man team and a unit full of children, so selling TUI collection trips was almost impossible. -Role - On this pay, you are responsible for being first line in lots of cases you really aren't qualified for. Last season, I dealt with rape, sexual assault, child on child sexual assault, theft, drunks, domestic violence. All at roughly £600 a month. If a confrontation occurs between a guest, I truly didn't have faith that management would believe my side of the story, and often pushed back on the versions of events I reported. -Organisation - Genuinely, I mean it when I say, they are so disorganised it forced a lot of the reps to leave within the first week. Arriving at a destination to be told you're being placed in a different one, which might actually be a whole different country, missing uniform, technology etc. Staff didn't even know your name. Overstaffing was common. -Accomodation - I was lucky and had the best accommodation anyone has ever seen in TUI, but usually you're left to share an apartment, or even a room. This season I saw cockroaches, rats, broken locks on doors management told us to deal with etc. So yes your accommodation may be included in your wage, but this could be a shared room with 2/3 other people. You will have no idea about this until you arrive in destination. Your accommodation could be miles from your issued hotel, and I saw some reps accommodation this season in some terrible places. -Management - Also appalling. I was stopped from attending doctors appointments for a reoccurring problem, which ended in me being hospitalised for a week after not receiving the correct medication. Mental health support from your line manager is next to none. Mental health ambassadors are not professionally trained people. Uniform - The standard blue uniform for reps is not adequate for hot climates. Sweat patches in cotton look terrible, and would often result in me dripping with sweat whilst tending to customers. -Promotional opportunities - You need to work a full season before you can apply to the team leader scheme, so another full season after that. Even with a promotion, the pay rise is minimal, two management levels above I know is around £1000 a month for a team manager.
