Pros
You work with some nice people. SSE onsite facility management in Jacksonville goes out of their way to create a warm atmosphere by hosting breakfasts, organizing potlucks, and putting together employee appreciation events.
Kontras
SSE corporate in St. Louis doesn't care about most employees at all. Very few people are considered "permanent" employees. If you are working on one of the Boeing contracts--even if you have been there for years and continue to be moved into subsequent contracts--you are viewed as "temporary" and the company has no obligation to you. That means no effort is made to promote you, to give you anything that approaches a real raise or incentive. Nobody ever asks about your goals or your career aspirations. Corporate job openings are NEVER posted internally....you just have to see them on the website like anybody on the outside. Insurance benefits are very expensive and all time off is lumped into PTO. You have jury duty? PTO. Your parent died? PTO. You're sick? PTO. Oh....and a week of your PTO is predetermined for you because Boeing shuts down the week between Christmas and New Year, so you're going to take those days off whether you want to or not. To make matters worse, all the professional managers/team leads are Boeing employees, so the only way you get any sort of recognition is if Boeing lobbies your company on your behalf. The only thing an SSE person can aspire to is to get hired by Boeing. That happens occasionally--but only if you're male and only if you're a pilot or naval air veteran.
