6yIn reviewing our records, we have NOT had ANY employees leave who worked here "full-time for less than a year."
It is very important to Doug Dunlap, CEO, that Syntech employees enjoy their work environment, as well as a good work/life balance. Our relaxed culture, flexible hours, and friendly coworkers are a direct result of Doug’s vision being carried out by HR and upper management for all employees. This is one reason why we have low turnover and high retention.
A small portion of our building is “under construction” and we are very excited about office renovations that are currently underway which includes freshly painted walls and new doors!
Last year, we piloted a summer STEM intern program for high school seniors. This proved to add value to our engineering department (the interns built 44 AIM Mini-Racks for our engineers to use for testing purposes) while giving high school seniors a glimpse of the many opportunities available in STEM related fields. This summer pilot program was a success, so we have continued it for a second year.
Additionally, this is our third year implementing Syntech's STEM college intern program. The majority of our college interns (the ones you refer to as having “little to no programming experience”) are students of FSU/FAMU's College of Engineering. During their internship, they created an electronic timesheet that is currently being utilized by our engineering department. Feedback that we have received from our college STEM interns, as well as their mentors within the engineering department, has been VERY POSITIVE and added value to the department resources. We are very happy with our STEM intern program and look forward to building on it every year, making it even bigger and better.
Regarding your comment about Syntech not being a “young person’s company” - We are very proud of the diversity within our organization; with 183 employees, the average age is 43.
