• Good employee benefits – Tech Scheme, Cycle to work scheme, Company Pension, flexible working hours start at 7 and finish at 3 or anytime up to 7pm, car parking paid for, free coffee (expensive coffee bean type). Free fruit/chocolate and sweets provided, staff party fund providing pizza for employees during once a month open company review. • Talented hardworking employees especially the development team who are up against it with tight deadlines and willing to go above and beyond to get work done • Challenging but rewarding environment, you will be working with a large variety of security equipment from 4k cameras, relays, alarm systems etc providing a wealth of potential personal development and knowledge acquired. Kontras
• Pay is below average within the market with pay reviews sometimes only occurring once a year with some staff not even having a pay review until 2 years down the line in some cases. • No company/individual target bonus – would be nice if all the staff hard work was rewarded even if you rewarded staff with perks such as month free Spotify voucher or maybe Pluralsight/tech subscription voucher, even buying some staff beers would be a nice touch. • No real employee reviews/feedback provided- While a once a year employee review was implemented this was seen as last minute annoyance with some management members, with members of the team having to constantly chase management for this review- I would recommend a complete overhaul as certain management members couldn’t fit this into their busy schedules. I believe this should be done the week after the new year with time allocated for each member of the staff to ensure this is not a rush job and inconvenience for management implementing this. A fair analysis of each employee should be implemented with clear goals and training goals implemented to provide a rewarding feedback/review • Tight deadlines – Management are too happy to appease customers by promising the world this is then resulting in unrealistic tight deadlines for development to deliver. This results in unrealistic expectations for customers resulting in development becoming bottle necked and rushed. Other customers in other areas of the businesses are then becoming neglected resulting in staff working from 7 to late at night to get the work done. This needs to be changed with proper project planning – maybe invest in some business/system analysis and project managers to assist with this! • Bad management decisions –Making rash decisions without speaking to development or other management team – Involve the development team before making rash decisions such as fully removing your QA team.
