Pros
It's the best place I've worked from a people and engineering culture. The CTO and Head of People demonstrate a strong belief in transparency and tough decisions. Customers love the product. Engineering managers are experienced managers and good engineers. Salaries are generous and performers receive more stock with promotions. Underperformers are fired and it's addressed honestly. 2021 was a year that the company lost its way to focus on growth. 2022 has been turbulent with changes but things are heading in the right direction. Recent layoff was needed to refocus the organization.
Kontras
Staff group is full of men who talk too much and listen too little. CEO checked out last year to focus on outside projects and his relationship. He let go 25 people last week, spoke for 5 minutes about it at an All Hands, and has since disappeared for actual weeks on vacation. The company handled it well and other managers were extremely supportive but he is the CEO. Promotions are intentionally hidden.
