Pros
- The engineers are very smart and nice to work with.
- Director of engineering tries to do their best and is flexible with the team.
- New area for engineers looks great
Kontras
- Low pay and no retirement plans.
- CEO is too involved in the every day work of engineers. CEO tells managers EXACTLY what he wants the engineers doing at any time. The managers are great at their job and should be allowed to lead the team, instead of taking orders.
- CEO has the last word on any decision. If the CEO wants some one fired, managers has no say in it. Watched two good co-workers get fired one morning (one of which moved from out of state to work there) and given a generic reason for why they were let go. Several people were fired around that same time and given the same generic reason.
- Code is quite old, dating back to 2004. There is little to no documentation and the company does not train new engineers on how the code works. The "training" back and forth emails with senior engineers. Senior engineers never sit down with you to help you or teach you something. While the other engineers are very smart, they unfortunately cannot help new people because the code base is so old, the piece you are working on hasn't been touched by any one in years.
