Pros

Catered lunch Nice office equipment and location

Kontras

StumbleUpon culture is very political. People who do actually do something for company get no credit. They fire employees right before vesting. It's a management tactic at StumbleUpon now. Bright people are leaving the company after CEO actually left. Every week I read a goodbye email from mostly engineers who ben at StumbleUpon for years. I believe its all because they all see what Garret Camp saw when he decided to spend all his time on Uber and leave StumbleUpon on it's own. StumbleUpon is in a downhill to big failure. The new Pintrest-like design will kill advertising revenue. When you see people who kicked out from Yahoo! are joining StumbleUpon you know something bad is happening. Company has changed in past year dramatically. There are no more company outings anymore and company pays less for benefits like health insurance are now. If you want to join a startup company StumbleUpon is not a good startup to join. If you want to join a corporate company StumbleUpon is not a good corporate company to join

Pros

The benefits are good. Not many start ups do 401k matching, and SU does. You get lunch on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and the lunches are really good. There is breakfast on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This isn't an amazing perk as many companies will serve you lunch every day, but the quality of the food is top notch. You get 4 weeks of vacation time, and this year (for the first time) the company is being giving the week between Christmas and New Years off. I don't know if this will continue though.

Kontras

Communication and collaboration are. People, as well management, just make decisions and go with it. It results in bad decisions and bad code being pushed out that no one else knows about. This means that bugs and breaks that could have been found earlier (or avoided altogether), aren't found until later. The culture seems to be "every man for him/herself" and there isn't much teamwork.
