Kontras

Employees don't have a voice. Policies and procedures are not consistently applied. Managers discretion is the only voice and when your manager does not favour you, you are victimised and intimidated.

Pros

There are free hot drinks all over, The in office kitchens are reasonably good and there is a break room. The pay scale has been well worked out and the people there are largely competent and friendly enough as far as the developers go. The work is relatively stable as well because of how deeply the company is tied into South Africas financial infrastructure.

Kontras

Strate is owned by the big banks and the JSE. This means that Bee and corporate politics are a huge thing. The board was SUPER corporate (deciding that the balanced scorecards must fall into a bell curve) so expect some things that will make that possible. Also to score high on those cards you need to go beyond what you have been hired to do, which is subjective. Anything that affects the Banks and Securities market is going to affect your work, either in terms of workload, pay or time off because once again of how closely they are tied to the financial market.

Working for one of the most important companies in financial services. Working for South Africa's only CSD
