Pros
I was astonished at how much the director of sales invested in me. The pay is exceptional, and the ongoing training is equally as valuable. He pushed us to excellence, but also encouraged us & celebrated wins with us. This is a good place to learn the consultative style of sales. The product is top-notch, really something to be proud of. Generous compensation and very reasonable hours. Flexible with time off, too. I was overall quite happy working here. The generous pay with uncapped commissions did a lot to motivate me and give me a bright future. If you do a good job, you should be making $100k/yr after the first year. If you're just average, you will make $50k the first year and you will get fired. They have no room for average salesmen. But you will have proactive feedback and room to change.
Kontras
As a small company, there is no place to hide (which I admit is sometimes nice). It's a much more personal work environment than a Fortune 500 company. Everyone was peaceable enough, but I sometimes had a little friction with crude or bawdy humor (which I dislike). The director of sales was surprisingly active in keeping the peace, though, and keeping the humor to a PG-13 level. Also, as it is with custom manufacturing, there were occasional delays in shipping orders. This didn't bother me, other than it upset the customer. There is the temptation to cover your tail sometimes, and make up a story about the delay.
