Pros

Well... they're certainly good at gaming Glassdoor reviews! This has been quite the coordinated attack with all the 4 and 5 star reviews over a short window of time. Seems like their ability to make decisions and execute has improved since I left the company. To be fair, this is a solidly three-star company. So if that's what you're looking for, then this might be a great fit for you. I'm only giving them one star to counter the clear gaming of the system. A few actual pro's: - Visionary business model that has (had?) potential to be very special - Standard tech company perks - Backed by some of the most well-known VC's and investors in the world - Might be different now given the current state of the company, but most SF employees who left the company landed in really solid places I'll also mention that, at one point in Teespring's history, this was the best place I had ever worked and I've learned a ton from working here.

Kontras

In no particular order: Way too political for a company of its size. Leaders would talk in a way that suggested the company was doing well. Even though the revenue and sales data showed the exact opposite was true. It wasn't even ambiguous. Rather than prepare people for what many of us knew was imminent, Teespring's leaders thought it'd be a good idea to delude the company into thinking things were going well. For like six months (!). No focus or clarity of mission -- if there is one thing this company is good at, it is "committing" to build something, only to quickly shift focus onto something different, leaving yet another half-built feature in purgatory. They're remarkably inept at hiring senior level managers, not a good thing for a young company to be bad at! They had a string of executive-level hires from Zynga (yes, they thought that would end well) who all ended up being let go over time. They also added a celebrity hire to the executive team from eBay who was supposed to turn things around. Instead, he decided to hire in a way that added just more layers between him and individual contributors, almost all of whom left shorty after. On that same note, the lack of loyalty at Teespring is remarkable. Rather than keep individual contributors who helped build Teespring into what it is, they decided it'd be a good idea to lay many of them off in favor of paying more money to big-talking, new managerial hires who were unable to roll up their sleeves and actually get things done. A shocking example of this disregard for employees: they sent an e-mail to us notifying that all of our W-2 information (including social security numbers) had been compromised in a phishing attack. In that same e-mail, they thought it'd be a great idea to reassure us that "We believe no systems were breached and no buyer/seller data was accessed." Well, as long as our users are protected, I don't mind at all that a hacker can steal my identity and ruin my life! Low morale. The level of attrition at Teespring over the past year is highly representative of the confidence people feel towards the company. People don't just leap off yachts in massive waves because they've all been enjoying the ride for too long -- they jump from sinking ships. Decision making is sporadic at best. No stated framework for it, poor transparency, and absolutely zero focus. To rattle off a few concrete examples: they signed high-profile deals that guaranteed money to their partners but ultimately drove no value to the company (and promoted the people who made the deal), they made poor acquisitions that ended up costing a lot of time and energy with minimal benefit, they closed an office to save money and then opened up two more not long after, they signed a lease on a space that was to expensive to bring up to code and for a while was nothing more than a place for them to have parties and weekly laser tag games, they laid people off then hired them back as contractors because nobody else knew how to do the work there. Poor transparency, especially for a company of its size.
