Pros

Great people, minus Sr. Executives. Smart, intuitive staff of designers who really care, until a Sr. person steps in. Creative Director is fantastic, full of life, smart, and vibrant. Other Sr. Level Executives, not so much, especially the managing director.

Kontras

This place takes micromanagement to a whole new level, if you ever want to feel like your whole career experience was wrong, work here. Spends DAYS perfecting things that were fine in the first place. Sr. Executives except the creative director were absolutely terrible. Managing Director is disliked by absolutely everyone, skips out on events, leaves early everyday and has zero social skills.

Pros

One of the initial selling points was the work/life balance. I was consistently able to leave at the proper closing time, and enjoy my weekends without the worry of being called in. Initially, this was because of the time management skills of the then account team. But toward the end of my time there, this was mostly due to the fact that there were, frankly. no clients left.

Kontras

They hired severely under-qualified people to replace employees that had klout with clients and coworkers. The "talent" they brought in to help innovate and change the business were eventually forced into the same monotonous ideology of the contradicting manifesto and weren't given a chance to do much at all. Senior roles were being filled by friends of the management, creating a toxic tattle-tale work environment affecting the quality of work and range of opportunity. The account team would consistently "work from home" for no reason except for the inconvenience of actually coming into and doing work. Before Spring Design dissolved into the shadow of what it once was, there used to be a culture. The music stopped playing, and the lunch breaks with each other turned into interviews when not sitting alone at a desk trying to make as little noise possible opening a packaged sandwich from the bodega up the street. It used to be a place I enjoyed coming into. Then it became a place I couldn't wait to leave.
