Pros
Workplace was not toxic, at least for my team. There was great camaraderie ...until they laid off so many of our new friends. The management is making their best good-faith effort. One team has a manager that knows the work and participates just like one of the workers. Flying us all to San Diego for a retreat was a fun experience, but are there better ways for a start up to spend it's money?
Kontras
In 2023 all the employees were flown to a retreat in San Diego. We got to meet all the department heads and hear how they ran their department. Grand plans were outlined for the next year. They even hired a dedicated recruiter... ...First work day of 2024 they laid off a large chunk of the employees. This included some of those department heads and a few people who had barely been with the company for 2 months, --including that poor recruiter. (this tells me it was an "emergency" layoff, not a planned thought-out one.) ...In March there were more layoffs, again including at least one person who'd only been with the company a couple of months. (so again an "emergency" layoff) ...Later that same month, two departments were put on a 4-day work week, with a reduction in their pay accordingly. In other words, the cons is that Sr. management isn't that good at the actual "running the company" part. I do not recommend anyone allow the current CEO to become part of their chain of command.
