There is too much politics in teams and management too and the worst part is top management is so much interested in showing their powers to save their favourite people. You can not get a good salary raise or a comfortable work environment in the team if you do not sit and drink with your TL. Also satisfying your manager's ego is the toughest task rather than doing some productive work for company. You will get nothing if you hate pleasing your TL with like sweets and shayaris in parties at their place.
The moral of the story is if you want to survive you should have the one and only quality of pleasing/buttering whatever you can say. And if you are a non drinker and do not love to party, forget about your bright future in this company because you will be judged on the basis of how many parties you have attended.
