Software AG is at its heart a German company, despite the acquisition of webMethods which had its principal headquarters in the US. German companies tend to value their employees and the obligation of the employer to be a stable and reliable source of employment. This emphasis on stability and long-term planning is often misinterpreted as it does result in cost control as well as a measured pace of innovation. But cost reductions are implemented in order to save jobs, and this results in improvements over the long term in the experience base as well as relationships one develops both with colleagues as well as with customers and other stakeholders. The company takes very seriously the relationship of employment and its responsibilities. This results in a stable and beneficial work environment, if you can temper your expectations and allow the company to gently surprise you over time. This is not the kind of company that you should try to impose your own expectations and preconditions on.
