Pros
I’ve worked at a handful of fast-growing tech companies, and Smartcat has been one of the most genuinely energizing environments I’ve experienced.
What stands out most is the level of ownership people are trusted with. You’re not boxed into a narrow role, you’re encouraged to think bigger, take initiative, and actually shape how things get done. Everything from getting your own personal AI agent on Day One to providing ideas and feedback to HR, the team wants you to succeed, will listen, and will support you. That kind of autonomy can be intimidating at first, but it’s also what makes the work meaningful. You see the impact of what you’re building.
The pace is real, this is not a place for someone looking to coast. Priorities evolve, and you need to be comfortable with a bit of ambiguity. But if you enjoy solving hard problems and learning quickly, it’s incredibly rewarding. I’ve grown more here in a short time than I have in years elsewhere.
The people are another highlight. There’s a strong sense of collaboration, and I’ve consistently found teammates willing to jump in, share context, and support each other. It doesn’t feel political or hierarchical, which makes a big difference day to day.
It’s not perfect, no company is, and like any scaling organization there are moments where things feel a bit unstructured. But there’s a clear effort to improve and a leadership team that is open to feedback and focused on building something long-term.
If you’re someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment, values autonomy, and wants to be part of building rather than maintaining, this is a great place to be.
Kontras
- Not the best fit if you prefer very defined roles and processes
- Because the company is pushing into new territory, processes are still evolving and can occasionally feel unstructured
